Message from the Chief

I would like to thank the Board, staff, and residents of Useppa Island for the opportunity to serve as your Fire Chief.

I am a longtime Southwest Florida resident, having moved to Lee County in 1987. Over the past three decades, I have become very familiar with the communities, waterways, and unique challenges of our coastal and barrier island environments.

I began my career in the fire service in 1990 and recently completed a 32-year career with Lee County, serving as a Chief Fire Officer and Paramedic. During that time, I earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

For the past 15 years, I continue to lead the Lee County Marine Emergency Response Team (MERT), maintaining close working relationships with the Lee County Fire Chiefs Association and numerous public safety partners. As a liaison among Fire Rescue, Law Enforcement, EMS, Aviation, Coast Guard, Dispatch, WCIND, and marine towing services, I bring valuable experience and knowledge related to barrier island operations, emergency response logistics, and marine related incidents.

My commitment is to provide the highest level of fire protection, emergency medical response and transport, public education, and community relations for everyone we serve on and around Useppa Island.
